Introducing the At-Bat DB!

I have a weird obsession with baseball player’s at bat music.

Trouble is, as far as I can tell, there’s no one good place that keeps track of everyone’s at-bat music. Nowhere can you see when a player changed their music. Nowhere where you can depend on to refer to when you hear a new player’s song and wonder what it was.

I want to change that. Today I’m introducing a new Fake Neal project, the At-Bat Music Database.

Now, besides pretty much giving away my identity, this is also a project that’s very early in its infancy, so try not to judge too much. I have a lot of things I’d like to do with it, but I realized that I’m going to need help from everyone to make this complete. Astute viewers (or just people with too much time on their hands) will see that I have only 5 players entered in so far… so we’ve got a ways to go.

If you know a player’s at-bat music, I’d encourage you to fill out this form so I can add it to the site. I’ve gathered as many links as I could find in Google, so I’ve got a lot of players still to add, but that’s still only a tiny fragment of what we’ll need to have to make this thing complete.

Right now I’m organizing players based on their current teams. I’m not sure how we’ll handle players who are no longer in baseball. In the future, I’d like to add a player search. Maybe I’ll just organize the player by last name instead. I’m not sure yet.

Shoot me an email at neal AT fakeneal.com if you have any comments or thoughts. I’d love to hear from you. And spread the word to your friends who root for other teams - we’ll need the support of everyone in the baseball community.
