Movin' on up!
If word didn’t get around to you, I’ve got a new Internet home! And there’s even a super awesome post there! Exclamation points!
Tumblr has been super great for me to start off da blog, but I’m moving to a fancy Wordpress installation. I’ll still be rocking it on Twitter, but those tweets probably will stop appearing in the new blog’s feed (unlike they...
You’re gonna lose a game even when you score 15 when you can’t convert those red zone opportunities into touchdowns. Wait, what?
I don’t know what we’re going to do with all these Pittsburgh Pirates 2010 Grapefruit League Champions t-shirts we made up.
My dream of an undefeated Grapefruit League season is crushed by a guy with two first names. I shake my fist at you, Colin Curtis.
I love watching professionals beat up on junior college amateurs. Stay in school, kids!
If we lose to the Manatees again this year, everyone is cut.

Dynasty Talk: New article in which I call Smizik “El Pointo” - http://www.fakeneal.com/2010/02/dynasty-talk/
Well, one thing is for certain: Frank’s not about to start a dynasty in this golf tourney anytime soon.
Dear 93.7 THE FAN: The Fake Neal Huntington Show is ready to roll. Call my agent.
Little known fact: I evaluate all baseball transactions I make based on a scale of how much it will piss off Bob Smizik.
Alright, who let Frank use the d-word?
Pitt over Villanova? USA over Canada? C’mon, we’re using up all our upset mojo here, folks. Save some for baseball season ….please.
Poor Tiger. He almost takes as much abuse as I do.
All this talk of baseball has got me all excited. Would anyone be interested in coming to a “Fake Neal Night” at the ballpark this season?
Overheard at spring training: “Hey Mark, is that a syringe in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?”
Folks, it’s official. The Pirates are tied for first place.
Make sure you put out a clean polo and nachos for Frank this evening. It’s spring training eve, after all.
2 days til pitchers and catchers report. Start planning the parade.
I regret not trading Matt Capps for a snow plow.
Bryce Harper? Neva hearda him.
I spent most of today trying to convince Frank to let us do a Kevin Polcovich bobblehead promotion.
With @maholm28, @hanrahan4457 and @DanielMcCutchen on the Twitter, I can’t be as brutally honest here. From now on, only in the media.

I will be at PiratesFest tomorrow. If you’re going also and you’re able to figure out who I am, feel free to say hello!
And here I thought they signed Josh Fogg to pitch batting practice.
Pirates send Mayor Richard Caliguiri statue to New York for future considerations. Had to clear space for Maz somehow, folks.
Yes, Bob. We went from number 29 to number 18 in 2 years. Who needs progress?
Dear Mr. Smizik, How do you still have a job? Hugs and kisses, The Best Management Team in All of Sports
I made @hanrahan4457 get a Twitter. Just kidding. But seriously.
Anthony Claggett. Alas, we barely knew ye. Actually, I kinda forgot you were on the 40-man til I looked at the list today.
How do you like our bullpen now?
Still lots of data entry to do and more improvements coming. Thanks for the continued support, all!
The At-Bat DB now has individual player pages! Here’s Jason Kendall’s: http://justinburdett.com/atbatdb/player.php?player_id=16
The 2010 Washington Nationals: 12% Your 2009 Pittsburgh Pirates!
SALARY DUMP!
It is my dream to have Brian Bixler become a trending topic on Twitter.
Brito was a solid pickup for us. Plus his name reminds Frank of “burrito.” How could we not make that move?
My thoughts go out to Masumi Kuwata and his family for their loss. Truly a class act professional and person.
brb finishing up the bullpen
One down, two to go. It’s going to be a little more difficult to find a reliever named Stephanie or Michelle, huh?
Ladies and gentlemen, we have an entry for Jeff Reboulet on the At-Bat Music database. My work here is done.
When Charlie Morton strikes someone out at PNC Park, we should play the “Ouch, Charlie! OUCH!” audio from the Charlie Bit Me Youtube.
Thanks to some hard-hitting Yahoo journalism, I feel I must apologize. I’m sorry I didn’t turn our assets into Albert Pujols, all. My bad.
At bat music db has been updated quite a bit since the launch. Thanks for all the support so far, all! Keep it coming!
Yahoo is dead to me.
Royals sign Matt Herges. Five minutes later, they released him. Sometimes history repeats itself.
Well, look on the bright side, Mark. You might not be voted in the hall-of-fame, but at least chicks dug the long ball.
Ryan Church: ‘Cause we’re gonna need a little help from above.
Introducing the At-Bat DB!
I have a weird obsession with baseball player’s at bat music.
Trouble is, as far as I can tell, there’s no one good place that keeps track of everyone’s at-bat music. Nowhere can you see when a player changed their music. Nowhere where you can depend on to refer to when you hear a new player’s song and wonder what it was.
I want to change that. Today I’m introducing...
We’ve got our own, simpler way of evaluating players here at the Pirates. We like to call it “light sabermetrics.”
